India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki has revealed its flagship Grand Vitara SUV. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara claims to be India’s most fuel-efficient SUV with a mileage of 27.97km/l.

The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV like the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is offered with two powertrain options – a 1.5-litre strong hybrid sourced from Toyota and the 1.5-litre K15C engine with the carmaker’s own mild hybrid system.
The strong hybrid setup of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV features a 1.5-litre Atkinson Cycle petrol engine along with a single electric motor that draws power from a lithium-ion battery pack. The engine delivers 91bhp and 122Nm of torque while the total system output is rated at 114bhp.
The strong hybrid system sends power to the front wheels alone and is paired with a e-CVT automatic gearbox. The strong hybrid (what Maruti Suzuki calls Intelligent Hybrid) version of the new Grand Vitara offers four driving modes – EV, Eco, Power and Normal – and delivers a mileage of 27.97km/l.
The mild hybrid version of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is powered by the carmaker’s K15C engine that is helped along by an integrated starter generator. This version of the Grand Vitara produces 101.6bhp and 136.8Nm of peak torque.
The K15C engine on the Grand Vitara is offered with both a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. Manual versions of the new Grand Vitara also get the option of Suzuki’s AllGrip all-wheel drive system that offers multiple driving modes like Auto, Sport, and Snow. The manual FWD Grand Vitara progressive hybrid offers a mileage of 21.11km/l while the automatic version delivers 20.58km/l. All-wheel drive versions of the new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara deliver a mileage 19.38km/l.
The new Suzuki Grand Vitara is 4,345mm long, 1,795mm wide and 1,645mm tall. The wheelbase of the new Grand Vitara is 2,600mm long.

While the new Grand Vitara may share its powertrain and platform with the Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki has given its flagship SUV quite a few design highlights to help differentiate it from its Japanese sibling.
The Grand Vitara’s imopsing grille dominates the front end of the SUV. The grille features a large Suzuki badge that is connected to the 3 element LED daytime running lights by chunky strips of either Dark or bright chrome depending on the engine option. The DRLs also act as the turn signals. The LED projector headlights sit lower on the front bumper in their own enclosures.
The Grand Vitara features black plastic cladding that runs across the front and rear bumpers and the sides of the SUV. The Boxy wheel arches play host to 17-inch alloy wheels finished in Silver. The rear end of the Maruti Grand Vitara features three element LED taillamps that are connected to the Suzuki badge in the centre. The Grand Vitara badging sits below the Suzuki emblem.
The Grand Vitara’s interior looks sophisticated with a multi-layer dashboard playing host to the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The dashboard, doors and seats are upholstered in faux leather which is offered in either black with champagne gold accents or Bordeaux with luminant silver accents depending on the chosen powertrain. The driver and front passenger seats are ventilated.
The Grand Vitara offers a host of features including coloured heads up display, 360 degree view camera, Qi-wireless phone charger, a fully digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, and over 40+ connected car features which can be accessed thought the Suzuki Connect app.
