The Grand Vitara shares its underpinnings with the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and will rival the Creta & Seltos.
Maruti Suzuki has taken wraps off the Grand Vitara for the Indian market.
The Grand Vitara features a large radiator grille with chrome inserts flanked by triple LED daytime running lights. Like the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti’s version also features a split headlamp setup. The rear of the car looks similar to the Hyryder with its slim tail lamp units and LED light bar, but gets different 17-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the Grand Vitara gets a dual-tone dashboard with a floating 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the centre. The SUV comes equipped with features such as a panoramic sunroof, digital instrument cluster, head-up display, wireless charger and ventilated front seats.
The safety kit offered on the Grand Vitara includes a 360-degree camera, 6 airbags, ESP, hill-hold, rear disc brakes and TPMS.
The Grand Vitara comes with two engine options. These include a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine that makes 103 BHP and 137 Nm, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic and a 1.5-litre strong-hybrid producing 115 BHP and 122 Nm. The ICE is paired with an electric motor that has an output of 78 BHP and 141 Nm. This powertrain comes with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Maruti Suzuki claims that the Grand Vitara will be India’s most fuel-efficient SUV. The strong-hybrid version is said to deliver 27.97 km/l.
