The eVX is said to be based on a skateboard platform derived from Toyota’s 40PL electric architecture.
Last month, the Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV was spotted testing for the first time in Poland. Now, the latest reports suggest that the EV is likely to make its global debut by October 2024.
The eVX was unveiled in concept form at Auto Expo 2023. The electric SUV is said to be based on a skateboard platform derived from Toyota’s 40PL electric architecture. Codenamed 27PL, it will be heavily localized in order to bring the costs down and will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant.
The Maruti Suzuki eVX is said to be 4.3 meters long and will have a wheelbase of 2.7 meters. Spy images indicate the overall design will be similar to the concept. It will feature an upright front fascia with a blanked-off grille and L-shaped headlamps. It will get C-pillar mounted rear door handles, while the rear will feature slim wraparound taillights and an integrated roof spoiler.
Inside, the eVX is likely to get a squarish 2-spoke steering wheel with a free-standing digital display housing the instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system. The spy images also reveal a rotary drive mode selector.
The eVX concept had a 60 kWh battery pack offering an estimated 550 km of range. The production version is expected to get a similar battery setup, although Maruti could offer an entry-level variant with a smaller 48 kWh battery.
