Isuzu has unveiled a one-off version of its D-Max that injects some serious off-road appeal into the popular pick-up. It’s called the GO2 because the Isuzu marketing team wants you to know that it can ‘go to’ places other vehicles can’t. A little too on the nose there, Isuzu.
So what makes it so good at going off-road? Well, Isuzu has equipped the GO2 with a taller, adjustable suspension to drastically improve ground clearance, as well as a lockable rear differential, a new anti-roll bar and upgraded front wishbones. It also comes with 16 wheels that are shod with chunky off-road tyres.
But it’s not just a mechanical upgrade. There are a number of aftermarket additions on the exterior that make the GO2 more practical, but they mostly make the off-roader look much cooler than the bog standard D-Max Utah it’s based on.
The standout changes include a massive air scoop, which allows drivers to wade through deep rivers without flooding the engine, plus an LED strip that runs along the roof of the car so you can go off-roading in the dead of night.
That all sounds rather enticing, but unfortunately you won’t be able to get your hands on a GO2. The car is a one-off, so the only thing it’ll be ‘going to’ is the history books.
