Japanese carmaker Suzuki has revealed the Vision Gran Turismo concept. The Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo concept is powered by the Hayabusa’s 1.3-litre engine and three electric motors.
The Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo like other concepts that have born the Vision Gran Turismo name is a car that will only be available in the digital world. The Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo concept is one of the three new cars offered in the free Update 1.15 for the Gran Turismo 7 game for the Sony Playstation.
Previous Vision Gran Turismo cars have been known for their bonkers looks and car specific powertrains. While the looks of the Suzuki concept are not too out of the world, the car’s powertrain is unlike others seen on other vehicles as it takes parts of the Japanese automaker’s car and bike divisions to make a unique high revving hybrid setup.
The Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo concept is powered by the same 1.3-litre engine that powers the GSX1300R, better known to you and me as the Hayabusa. The Hayabusa engine is mounted behind the front axle of the Suzuki concept to give it a mid-engine layout and is aided by three electric motors.
This hybrid system allows the Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo concept to produce 426bhp at a screaming 9,700rpm and a peak torque figure of 610Nm. Two of the motors in the hybrid setup drive the front wheels while a single electric motor and the engine power the rear axle to give the concept roadster an all-wheel drive setup. Suzuki says that the Vision Gran Turismo roadster concept weighs in at just 970 kilogrammes.
The design of the Suzuki Vision Grant Turismo concept is inspired by the Swift Sport hot hatchback and Cappuccino Kei sports car from the 1990s claims Suzuki. The car looks like a pumped-up, roofless Swift Sport with its large gaping grille and the upswept headlights. The rear end of the concept car sports centrally mounted twin exhaust tips and what appears to be a rather complex diffuser setup made from carbon fibre.
The cabin of the Suzuki Vision GT concept is dominated by the yoke style steering wheel. Also seen on the inside are a driver’s head-up display as well as dual screens that output the feed from the rearview cameras.
Speaking about the Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo, the company stated, “The Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo is a VGT that brings back the legendary GSX-R/4 with the latest tech as an all-wheel-drive super-sport overflowing with the sporting mindset of the brand. A Gr.3 racing version of the Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo concept will be offered to gamers in the future.
