We know the five-door version of the 2024 Suzuki Jimny will come to Australia, but when is still up in the air.
But a report from Japan, as well as from its manufacturing home of India, gives us a better idea of when the brand’s diminutive off-roader might be ready for Oz.
While India is set to see the Suzuki Jimny five-door launch within weeks, it wasn’t expected to reach other markets until late this year or early next year.
As reported by Japanese publication Best Car, the Jimny five-door is also now expected to launch in the brand’s home nation of Japan – something that was originally off the cards for the small SUV.
The magazine expects the Jimny to launch in Japan’s autumn this year, which covers September to November.
Australians can already put their name – and their money – down for a five-door Jimny, with reports that hundreds have even though pricing and exact spec is yet to be confirmed.
“Orders are now open. Anyone who orders today will jump to the front of the queue. If you order tomorrow, or later, you will be further down the list,” said Suzuki Australia boss Michael Pachota in January upon the reveal of the five-door.
“That said, we’re expecting good stock supply – similar to Jimny in 2019 – and it will be arriving in 2023.”
Given the popularity of Jimny here in Australia, we expect to be a relatively early market for the five-door, and given it launches in its manufacturer home market of India next month, a June-July time frame for a local launch isn’t unrealistic to hope for.
