Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire sedan in India and we expect this new sedan to not only drive up the sales but also be a bit more pocket-friendly personal commute solution.
The CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire is a crucial model for the Indo-Japanese company as it plans to attract more buyers as rising petrol prices have become a major concern for many car buyers in India.
Thanks to the CNG fuel, the newly launched CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire will be a lot more fuel-efficient and kinder to the environment. So, before getting into conclusions, here are four things you should know about the new Maruti Suzuki S-CNG.
Engine & Gearbox
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire S-CNG is powered by a 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, DualJet, 4-cylinder petrol engine. In petrol mode, this engine produces 88.50bhp of peak power and 113 Nm of peak torque.
However, with the CNG fuel going inside the engine, this engine produces slightly lower power and torque outputs and according to Maruti Suzuki, this engine with CNG fuel produces 76.6bhp of peak power and 98.5Nm of peak torque.
Though the standard version of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire gets both 5-speed manual transmission and 5-speed AMT transmission options, the CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki comes exclusively mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Apart from that, the Indo-Japanese company claims a fuel efficiency figure of 31.12 km/kg of CNG fuel.
Features
Like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire is also a very well-equipped sedan. The CNG sedan comes packed with features such as a 7-inch infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering mounted audio and telephone controls, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED projector headlamps, Cruise Control, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs and many more.
Safety
Also, the CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes with life-saving safety systems such as dual airbags, ABS, EBD, reversing camera, Hill-Hold Assist, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), rear parking sensors, and a few more safety systems.
Maruti Suzuki has also re-tuned the suspension of the Dzire S-CNG to cope with the added weight of the factory-fitted CNG kit. In addition to these changes, Maruti Suzuki has also added Dual Inter-Dependent ECU units, a new fuel gauge, and safety switches for engine cut off while refuelling.
Prices & Competition
The CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire S-CNG will compete against other sub-4m factory-fitted CNG sedans such as Hyundai Aura CNG and Tata Tigor CNG. Prices for the Maruti Suzuki Dzire S-CNG starts from Rs 8.14 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
