The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been launched at prices ranging between ₹6.35 lakh and ₹9.49 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. But before we do that, let’s take a look at the engine specifications of the new Baleno and Altroz.

2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno comes with 1.2-litre DualJet dual VVT petrol engine that develops 88.5 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. This powerplant can be had with a five-speed manual gearbox or AGS (AMT speak for Maruti Suzuki) unit.

Tata Altroz, on the other hand, is available with a choice between a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. The petrol powerplant puts out 85 bhp and 113 Nm while the diesel variant has 89 bhp and 200 Nm on tap. There’s also a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine making 108 bhp and 140 Nm. All these powerplants are available with a manual gearbox only.

2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno’s price with manual transmission starts from ₹6.35 lakh and goes all the way to ₹8.99 lakh. And as for 2022 Baleno AGS, its price in India ranges between ₹7.69 lakh and ₹9.49 lakh. Tata Altroz petrol variants’ prices with naturally aspirated engine start between ₹6 lakh and go all the way to ₹8.8 lakh. But in case you want Tata Altroz iTurbo, you will have to spend ₹8.1 lakh and ₹9.4 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

These figures reveal that the Maruti Suzuki Baleno base variant is now ₹35,000 costlier than the Tata Altroz base model.
