The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno’s price in India starts at ₹6.35 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The new model comes sporting several cosmetic tweaks and has been equipped with a raft of modern features such as head-up display, 360-degree camera, a nine-inch touchscreen, and connected car technology.

2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been launched in India at ₹6.35 lakh for the entry-level Sigma variant while the top-end Alpha trim will set you back by ₹9.49 lakh with AGS transmission. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. Interestingly, the new Baleno is also available as part of the Maruti Suzuki subscription service with charges starting at ₹13,999 per month. As before, the Baleno is available across four variants — Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. The model launched in the country is the second facelift for the first generation Baleno that was launched here in 2015. The carmaker gave the premium hatchback a little nip and tuck job in 2019 but the facelift this time has brought about a raft of changes to the vehicle. The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno has received several design changes and an entirely new interior layout. Along with these, the premium hatchback has now also been equipped with a raft of modern features, bigger disc brakes, all-new suspension, a new hydraulic clutch system, and improved insulation for low NVH (noise, vibrations, and harshness).

2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno: Design
The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno has the same silhouette as the predecessor but gets a new, bigger radiator grille with matt black surrounds, a new LED projector headlamp cluster with LED DRLs, a sportier front bumper, LED fog lamps, and a different design for the 16-inch alloy wheels. There aren’t any changes to the sides but the rear now features split LED tail lights and redesigned rear bumper. All these cosmetic tweaks enhance the overall aesthetics of the premium hatchback. It is worth noting that the new Baleno has the same dimensions as the previous model.
2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno: Interior and features
The biggest change on the new Baleno is inside the cabin; the premium hatchback has now received an all-new dashboard layout and the curvy theme on the predecessor has been replaced by a sharper design tenet. The centre stage is taken by a nine-inch touchscreen (seven-inch unit for lower variants) with ‘Hi Suzuki’ voice assist, making the new Baleno appear significantly more upmarket than before. This infotainment system comes with customizable graphics and greeting message. The company has also enhanced the feature list, with notable provisions such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, sliding armrest, head-up display, 360-degree surround view, flat-bottom steering wheel, rear AC vents, cruise control, Arkamys sound system, automatic AC, and more.
The new Baleno also gets the Suzuki Connect suite with over 40 connected car features pertaining to vehicle safety, security, driving behaviour, remote operations through smartphones, smartwatches, and voice connectivity through Alexa Skill.
2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno: Safety features
The new Baleno comes with dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, reversing sensors, three-point seatbelt with pre-tensioners, and speed alert system as standard while the higher trims get six airbags, hill-hold control, electronic stability programme, and reversing camera. The Baleno is based on Maruti Suzuki’s Heartect platform and the company claims to have made extensive usage of high tensile and ultra high tensile steel for the new Baleno.

2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno is powered by the 1.2-litre DualJet K12N petrol engine with a 12V mild-hybrid system to develop 88.5 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. This powerplant can be had with a five-speed manual gearbox or AGS (AMT speak for Maruti Suzuki) unit. This means that the Indian carmaker has discontinued the CVT gearbox that was available with the previous Baleno. Interestingly, the Baleno AMT variants get idle stop-start feature that enhances the overall fuel economy.
