A detailed look at Suzuki’s all-new entry-level ADV for India
Entry-level ADVs are all the riot at the moment in India, and the latest manufacturer to hop aboard this bandwagon is Suzuki with its India-specific V-Strom SX.
While we’ve all seen how it looks in the official photos and videos, here’s a closer look at it in the real-world courtesy of this walkaround by AutoCare World.
Suzuki V-Strom SX Walkaround – Design & Features
The Suzuki V-Strom SX’s design is a mixed blend of the V-Strom 1050 and the Gixxer 250. Owing to the former, you get a beak along with brawny side panels and a tall visor at the front, while the latter is responsible for the bike’s octagonal all-LED headlight.
The bike is available in three colors: Orange, Yellow, and..
The V-Strom SX is available in three colors, namely Champion Yellow No. 2, Pearl Blaze Orange, and Glass Sparkle Black, all of which are inspired by its elder siblings. Two of these colors can be seen in the video and they surely look striking as well as standout in the flesh.
While the overall bike appears likable, it’s the rear end that plays a spoilt sport here. This is because the tail lamp is the same unit from the first-gen Suzuki Gixxer and looks simply dated yet out of place in this package.
The walkaround video by AutoCare World doesn’t show the instrument cluster of the bike but to recap, it packs a digital LCD with Bluetooth connectivity as standard
Coming to features, the video doesn’t really show the instrument console but to recap, the baby V-Strom gets:
- LED lights at the front and rear
- LCD instrument cluster
- Bluetooth connectivity
- Turn-by-turn navigation
- USB charging
Suzuki V-Strom Walkaround – Engine & Underpinnings
However, the SX does get a few tweaks to the underpinnings to make it capable of off-roading. Swipe up to know all about them.
Under the skin, the V-Strom SX is based on the Gixxer 250 platform. So you get the same 249cc, single-cylinder mill that makes 26.5PS and 22.2Nm housed in the same chassis as the Gixxer 250.
However, the V-Strom SX gets different underpinnings with visibly slimmer telescopic forks and a 19-inch front wheel, both aimed at improving off-road characteristics. The disappointing bit, though, is the lack of spoke wheels and the super low 120mm suspension travel.
Under the skin, the V-Strom SX is powered by a 249cc engine borrowed straight from the Suzuki Gixxer 250
Also, if you look closely at the walkaround video, the V-Strom SX’s bash plate seems tiny and impractical, again a limiting factor for a bike that’s dubbed the “Master Of Adventure”.
Like the underpinnings, the V-Strom SX is dimensionally different than the Gixxer 250, as it boasts a tall 835mm seat height, 205mm ground clearance, and 167kg of curb weight.
Suzuki V-Strom SX Price
Design-wise, the V-Strom SX looks like an adventure tourer with a tall beak and big windscreen upfront, inspired by the bigger V-Strom 1050
Lastly, the Suzuki V-Strom SX retails at Rs 2,11,600 (ex-showroom Delhi). At this price, it undercuts its arch-rival, the KTM 250 Adventure, by a significant Rs 25,000 but at the same time, falls right into the crosshairs of the more capable Yezdi Adventure and the Royal Enfield Himalayan.
