The Maruti 800 was the first small hatchback that went on sale in the Indian market.
The Maruti Suzuki 800 is undoubtedly the most respected car in the Indian automotive scene. Ever since its arrival in 1983, dominated the market as India’s favourite small car. Even outside India, the car was a huge hit and has a huge fan base all over the world.
Some still have a soft corner for the Maruti 800 and while keeping the heritage, flaunt their idea of personalised Maruti 800. Here is quite a unique attempt to modify the Maruti 800 to become the world’s first 8-seater iteration of this iconic legend.
The grille too is extremely wide and gets a large Suzuki logo in the centre
This uniquely customised 800 is owned by Hamdan bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan of UAE, an Emirati politician and ranks among one of the richest individuals in the world. What makes it special is its 8-seat cabin made by joining two Maruti 800 models side by side.
While we have seen a number of previous attempts of joining cars one after another to achieve a limousine type look, this car right here definitely is unique and attractive.
At the front, the bonnet section has been stitched together using a metal sheet while the roof section too, has been welded together using metal bars and glass. The bumpers are modified to fit the extra width while the front grille now is longer with a prominent Suzuki logo in the centre.
The customization is a lot more than simple welding work and includes a number of changes including components like the axle, suspension, and brakes. The car continues to feature the same powertrain, a front-wheel drive, and a steering setup.

With the width measuring almost three metres now, this modified Maruti 800 will be extremely difficult to drive and we have all the reasons to question its roadworthiness. The car however does have a registration and we won’t be surprised to see the Saudi royalty managing to get legal clearances for using this vehicle.
