Everyone tends to feel a little empowered behind the wheel of a pick-up truck and rightly so too; you’re in a huge hunk of metal and seated above everyone else on the road. Occasionally though, that elevated seating position can blind drivers with an inflated sense of invincibility much like the case of this that delivered its load of vegetables back to the ground in unfortunate circumstances.
The incident happened in the land of pick-up trucks; Cameron Highlands. Now, most drivers there are quite cautious but getting stuck behind a slow-moving vehicle on the single-lane roads can cause certain drivers to take unnecessary risk.
On what’s certainly a wet downhill road, the D-Max single cab attempts an overtake on the opposing lane (double lines as well) and is caught off guard by a vehicle coming around a corner. The driver naturally slams on the brakes and the trucks understeers into the drain, ending up on its side.
Pick-ups being driven like regular sedans is something that’s caused some accidents on the road and been highlighted recently. Here’s a reminder that force equals to mass times acceleration and a pick-up has a lot of mass.
