Gordon Murray’s roofless version of GMA T.33 supercar keeps V12 but is limited to 100 units at $3.5m each
Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) has uncovered its new 2024 GMA T.33 Spider and confirmed it will make just 100 units, each priced from £1.89 million ($A3.5m).
First deliveries will begin at the end of this year.
Powered by the same Cosworth-developed 3.9-litre naturally-aspirated V12 found in the coupe, the 2024 GMA T.33 Spider produces the same 448kW and 470Nm of torque.
Factor in a kerb weight of just 1008kg (just 18kg more than the hard-top) and performance is promised to be explosive.
Revving to an incredible 11,100rpm, the Cosworth donk can be combined with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automated manual.
Like the coupe, the entire body is made out of carbon-fibre and combines with a full carbon-fibre monocoque.
GMA claims torsional rigidity for the T.33 Spider is unchanged from the coupe.
Despite looking similar, GMA claims that from the front pillar back the T.33 Spider is all-new, while those roll hoops have been aerodynamically honed to ensure there’s no impact on performance at high speed.
There’s also a rear window that can be dropped to allow some extra V12 soundtrack to permeate the cabin.
Instead of a fabric roof, the T.33 Spider gets two removable roof panels that have been designed to slot into the 115-litre frunk.
There’s also another 180 litres of storage behind the rear fenders.
Cabin highlights include a gear lever made out of machined aluminium alloy, plus a steering wheel made out of carbon-fibre but trimmed in leather.
From launch, four colour themes have been created for the T.33 Spider that are said to have been inspired by Gordon Murray’s love of Murray Atholl tartan and Hawaiian shirts, among others.
The T.33 Spider will be built alongside the coupe at the niche British sports car-maker’s new HQ in Highams Park in England.
Around half of the 100 units are said to have already been spoken for.
