Leaked images of Kia’s heavily facelifted family SUV appear online ahead of official debut
The facelifted 2024 Kia Sorento has been leaked on social media ahead of its global debut in the coming weeks, revealing a slick new exterior design and the widely anticipated adoption of Kia’s latest curved display for the interior.
Images that appear to be official were posted to the shorts_car Instagram page today, showing off the Sorento’s new Kia EV9-inspired front fascia headlined by significantly altered headlight and daytime running light clusters.
The new slimline lighting measures flank and crown a revised grille design which largely does away with the current model’s somewhat blocky aesthetic, however there’s still an underlying sense of chunkiness.
Other changes include an all-new front bumper and lower intake design, plus revised alloy wheels.
The rear-end has undergone a similar makeover which looks to have ironed out some of the current model’s creases in favour of a smoother and more elegant theme, as evidenced by the overhauled bumper design.

This more understated theme is continued within the cabin by the revised centre console and dash layouts, with the former being treated to the biggest changes.
As with other recently updated or new-generation Kia SUVs, the Sorento’s once busy central control panel will be replaced – on the higher grades at least – by a new row of dual-function haptic controls, above which resides the new BMW-style curved display.
The new set-up looks to comprise the dual 12.3-inch digital cockpit and infotainment interfaces, as seen in the smaller Kia Sportage, but the size for each is expected to vary between model grades.

These changes make for a less cluttered and more modern cabin design, something that should help push the Sorento ownership experience to new heights within the realm of mainstream family SUVs.
There’s no word yet on mechanical improvements, with the current 3.5-litre petrol V6, 2.2-litre turbo-diesel and electrified 1.6-litre turbo powertrains all set to be carried over unchanged.
Also unlikely to change is the limited availability of the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models, something Kia Australia product planning boss Roland Rivero previously chalked up to the immense demand for electrified vehicles in Europe.
