Pricing for the 2023 Nissan Patrol line-up has been quietly upped in conjunction with the arrival of the new financial year, with the venerable but immensely popular full-size off-road SUV now $2485 and $2740 more expensive than before, depending on the variant.
The bigger of the two increases applies to the entry-level Nissan Patrol Ti variant, which now costs $85,900 plus on-road costs, while the flagship Ti-L now starts from $97,600 plus ORCs.
Those prices push the 13-year-old off-roader closer to the $100,000 mark, but remain well under the Y62 Patrol’s sticker prices of $93,390 and $114,490 before up to $27,500 was trimmed from them back in July 2015, to just $69,990 and $86,990 plus ORCs.
Nissan Australia is yet to confirm the reason for the price hikes, but they could be related to the ever-increasing production and shipping costs that have pushed up prices of dozens of models from other manufacturers over the past 18 months.
However, we know Nissan Australia is enjoying record sales of the sixth-generation Patrol since it was released in 2010, with more than 5000 sold here during the Japanese brand’s 2022 financial year, and it currently has a wait list despite increased production for this market.
We also know that no changes have been made to any of the Y62’s specifications including its signature 5.6-litre petrol V8 and standard equipment list, which continue to make the Patrol a relative bargain alongside its only direct competitor, the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series ($92,681-$141-481 plus ORCs).
carsales has asked Nissan Australia for comment on the Patrol’s price hikes and the impact they might have on pricing for the upcoming 2023 Nissan Patrol Warrior, and we’ll update this article when we receive a response.
What’s now almost certain, however, is that the Patrol Warrior will come with a six-figure pricetag, given it’s based on the base Ti but Nissan has said it will be positioned as the new Patrol flagship in terms of both capability and price – above the $97,600 Ti-L.
Based on the margin between the standard Nissan Navara PRO-4X and the Warrior version, and the Patrol Warrior’s extra additional content, odds are the big new homegrown off-roader will cost about 20 per cent more than the Ti, which now points to a starting price of at least $102,000 plus on-roads.
Down on gear but up on capability compared to the Ti-L, the Patrol Warrior will justify its top-shelf price tag with the addition of hard-core off-road suspension, 34-inch rolling stock and a side-exit exhaust system.
How much does the 2023 Nissan patrol cost?
