Big design tweaks and new tech incoming for small SUV and hatch
As they approach middle age, both the 2024 Skoda Kamiq and 2024 Skoda Scala will soon be updated with an extensive midlife refresh involving significant design improvements and lots of new technology.
Set to be fully unveiled on August 1 – four years after the small SUV and hatchback were first launched in Europe – the updated Skoda Kamiq will adopt a striking new front-end design headlined by a redesigned grille flanked by a pair of slimmer split headlights, as these teaser sketches show.
Look closer and you might also spot the new lower air intakes, while at the rear there’s a revised diffuser that neatly incorporates a bash plate, above new graphics for the tail-lights.
Updated look for 2024 Skoda Kamiq
Meantime, the 2024 Skoda Scala hatch gets the same slim headlight treatment above revised air intakes and, at the rear, designers have also added a prominent diffuser-style lower bumper beneath tail-lights with new lighting signatures.
Other changes include fresh alloy wheel designs and new ‘SKODA’ tailgate lettering.
Within the Kamiq and Scala, the Czech brand says the two facelifted models will be capable of challenging more premium rivals by offering features normally associated with bigger and more expensive models.
Skoda hasn’t specifically revealed what new tech is coming, but it’s thought the upgraded small SUV and hatchback will be equipped with the option of the huge 12.9-inch infotainment screen from the incoming 2024 Skoda Kodiaq flagship SUV.
It’s also tipped that both models will get a relocated column-mounted gear shifter.
Under the bonnet, expect an updated range of four-cylinder petrol engines, with mild-hybrid electric assistance in some markets.
Exact release timing and full details will be revealed on August 1.
