2022 Range Rover Sport SVR: what is it?
It's the next Range Rover Sport – Land Rover's best selling model. We've seen the standard model and the plug-in hybrid model out testing so far, but here we have the range-topping SVR.
It's the sportiest version, so also the fastest in a straight line and around corners. It's famous for its thunderous V8 soundtrack, but that V8 is rumoured to be coming from BMW this time around, and not JLR itself.
It's difficult to tell what the new Sport will look like from these images, but it's obvious that this is the SVR given its large brake disks and quad exhausts.
Ultimately, the new Sport is a refresh rather than an overhaul, so don't expect the new car to looks wildly different from the one on sale today.
2022 Range Rover Sport SVR: what is it powered by?
As mentioned, it's rumoured that JLR will swap its in-house 575hp supercharged V8 for a BMW unit instead. The new Sport will be on a new platform debuted by the full-size Range Rover later this year that'll be 48-volt and PHEV-ready.
BMW uses its twin-turbo V8 in many of its range-topping M models, where up to 625hp is produced in cars like the X5 M.
It remains to be seen what the V8 in the new Range Rover Sport SVR will produce, but it's likely to be in the region of 600hp.
2022 Range Rover Sport SVR: when will it be on sale?
The full-size range rover is being revealed later in 2021, but the Sport is likely to be revealed and go on sale in 2022.
This SVR model is likely to be revealed after the standard petrol, diesel and hybrid models too.
2022 Range Rover Sport SVR: how much will it cost?
Prices are yet to be released, but given the current Range Rover Sport started from around £102,00, we'd expect the new SVR to cost from around £110,000 when it goes on sale in 2022.
