Tata Motors Altroz iCNG bookings open for Rs 21,000. The Tata Altroz iCNG is the nation’s first twin-cylinder CNG car and deliveries of the premium hatchback will start in May 2023.
Tata Motors is offering the iCNG powertrain with the following versions of the Altroz premium hatchback – XE, XM+, XZ and XZ+ and in four colour options- Opera Blue, Downtown Red, Arcade Grey and Avenue White.
The Tata Altroz iCNG like other Tata models fitted with the iCNG setup can start up in CNG mode. This is a feature that is not available in offerings from rivals like Maruti Suzuki and Toyota.
The Altroz iCNG is the nation’s first twin-cylinder CNG car. The Altroz iCNG uses two 30-litre tanks that sit below the boot floor of the premium hatchback ensuring that luggage capacity is maximized.
The Altroz iCNG is offered with a naturally aspirated 1.2-litre engine that produces 76bhp and 97Nm of peak torque when running on natural gas. In petrol mode, the Altroz’s engine pushes out 84.8bhp and 113Nm of peak torque.
In terms of design, the Altroz iCNG remains unchanged compared to the petrol-powered hatchback. The only distinguishing design feature is the addition of the iCNG badging at the rear.
In its top-spec XZ+ variant level, the new iCNG version of the Altroz will sport 16-inch alloy wheels, leatherette upholstery for the seats, a 7-inch infotainment screen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as voice commands in multiple languages.
Other features on the Altroz XZ+ ICNG include automatic climate control, a height-adjustable driver’s seat and a voice-activated sunroof. In terms of safety, the XZ+ variant comes packed with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control and ISOFIX mounts for child seats among others.
In terms of pricing, we expect the Altroz iCNG to command a premium of around Rs 1 lakh over the regular petrol versions of the Altroz on which they are based.
