Sporty HST 300 and HST 400 bags mild-hybrid Ingenium six-cylinder engines
Land Rover has introduced a new sportier HST trim to the Range Rover Velar line-up that introduces the car-maker’s Ingenium inline six-cylinder mild-hybrid powertrains.
Based on the existing R-Dynamic trim, the new range-topping HST comes with either the 221kW D300 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder mild-hybrid diesel or the more powerful 294kW P400 3.0-litre inline six electrified petrol.
All-wheel drive is standard on both, but the diesel version gets a nine-speed auto rather than the petrol’s eight-speeder. Differing from the lesser models, the new six-pot HST models come with the option of a special Arroios Grey paint, 21-inch gloss black split-spoke rims and the option of a black contrast roof.

Inside, there’s black Suedecloth headlining and steering wheel and a sliding panoramic roof. Both models also come with air suspension and adaptive dampers as standard.
Other standard kit includes adaptive cruise with lane-keep assist and a 10.0-inch infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
The car-maker’s cabin air filtration system is also available. Full performance figures have yet to be revealed, but expect the diesel to sprint from 0-100km/h in less than 6.4 seconds while the P400 should nail a 0-100km/h dash in less than 5.5 seconds.
Pricing and availability for the Australian market has yet to be announced.
