The new Range Rover Sport has been given an extensive carbon fibre makeover and a boost of power – culminating in the local launch of the Range Rover Sport SVR Carbon Edition.
A redesigned new bumper and exposed carbon fibre bits are the biggest cosmetic additions to this SUV, while it is fitted with the most powerful engine in Range Rover’s history.
The Range Rover Sport SVR Carbon Edition is now available for R2,831,000.
With this you will receive a 5-year/100,000km warranty and service plan, along with a complimentary driver training experience.
New carbon bits
From the outside, the Range Rover Sport Carbon Edition sees the addition of an exposed carbon hood with functional air vents.
The front bumper has been redesigned and now improves brake cooling, and carbon inserts have been applied to the bumper vents, grille, side mirror covers, rear tailgate, and engine cover.
It stands on 22-inch alloy wheels that are finished in gloss black at the factory, and a body-coloured rear design with SVR badging around the vehicle completes the exterior revisions.
Moving inside, Carbon Edition-branded treadplates illuminate the door sills, and a leather and carbon clad interior with three large displays welcome you into the cabin.
As this is an SVR, it also receives lightweight SVR performance seats – which offers a weight saving of 30kg over the normal Range Rover Sport.
All the seats in this SUV are heated, and an additional benefit of the special front seats includes more legroom in the rear due to their compact design.
The Pivi Pro infotainment system provides smartphone connectivity along with controls over cabin features, and all sound is played through a 19-speaker Meridian system.
Most powerful Range Rover engine
The Range Rover Sport SVR Carbon Edition packs a huge engine, which is the most powerful unit ever put into a Range Rover.
The 5.0-litre, V8 engine produces 423kW of power and 700Nm of torque.
This is enough to push the Range Rover Sport SVR Carbon Edition from 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds, and allows it a top speed of 283km/h.
The drive is managed by an 8-speed automatic gearbox and power is sent to all four wheels via the Land Rover all-wheel-drive system.
