First look inside sleek new SUV from Geely luxury brand Zeekr, developed alongside Volvo EX30
The last piece of the 2023 Zeekr X puzzle has been solved ahead of its official debut on April 12, with the Geely-owned luxury brand releasing interior pictures for the first time.
We’ve already seen the sleek exterior styling of the Zeekr X, which is based on the Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) that also underpins the Smart #1 and the upcoming Volvo EX30.
With our first cabin view, we can see the Zeekr X features a squared-off steering wheel and full digital instrument panel, while taking pride of place within the classy cabin is a large widescreen infotainment system.
Cleverly, the large screen can slide across the dash to be positioned ahead of the driver.
Other cabin highlights include an illuminated strip that stretches across the dash, electric internal door handles, a large storage box between the seats, and bronze or rose gold aircraft-inspired window switches.
Measuring 4450mm long, 1836mm wide and 1572mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2750mm, the new Zeekr X matches cars like the BMW X1 in size.
There’s no word on powertrains but it’s thought the Zeekr X will be equipped with the same electric motors and batteries as the Smart #1 and Volvo EX30.
If so, entry versions will come with a single 200kW electric motor driving the rear wheels, while the most powerful variant will come with a punchier dual-motor powertrain that should kick out a combined 315kW of power and 543Nm of torque.
The base Zeekr X is likely to use a 66kWh battery, providing for a range of up to 450km.
Zeekr says an even higher-output model will join the line-up too, offering 0-100km/h acceleration in around three seconds and creating a new genre for high-performance small electric SUVs.
Zeekr has several locally approved and pending trademarks in Australia, but at this stage there is no firm plan for the brand to be launched Down Under, where fellow Geely-owned EV brand Polestar is operating and where Volvo will become an EV-only brand in 2026 – four years before its parent company.
