In November 2021, China’s new automobile sales were 2,192,000 units, a decrease of 4.7 percent from the same time the previous year. One of the most popular models is the MG ZS. Morris Garage’s intriguing SUV has made a strong showing in the Top 10.
The Chinese automobile market has reported a new month of decline. In November 2021, China’s automobile sales were 2,192,000 units, down 4.7 percent from the previous year’s figures. The shortage of inventory in the dealerships is a major factor in the poor outcomes that have been recorded.
Despite the recent declines, the overall picture remains encouraging. New automobile registrations in China reached 19,060,000 units between January and November 2021, up 7.1 percent over the same period in 2020.
The major reason of automobile shortages at dealerships is a deficit of semiconductors and microchips in vehicle production facilities, and as a result, economic activity is hurting.
The stats for commercial car sales in China are worsening. In November, 330,000 units were registered, down 30.3 percent from the same month previous year. Commercial vehicle registrations totaled 4,429,000 units between January and November 2021, down 5.3 percent from the previous year.

In November, 427,000 NEVS automobiles were registered, a 125.9% increase over the previous year.
So far this year, there have been 2,837,000 NEVS automobile registrations, which is 177,6% higher than in 2020.
When we split down these sales data by vehicle type, we see that the 100 percent electric vehicle is the clear winner. In November, 339,000 electric automobiles were registered in China, an increase of 116.1 percent over the same month the previous year. Between January and November, 2,318,000 electric vehicles were registered, an increase of 185.3 percent over 2020.
On the other hand, despite decreasing registration numbers, plug-in hybrid car sales continue to expand at a strong rate. Only 88,000 plug-in hybrids were sold in November, which represents a 174 percent increase over the previous year. Until November, overall sales of plug-in hybrids had reached 519,000 units, up 147.6% from the previous year.
