If Hyundai wants to make a big splash here in the Philippines, they should consider this: the first-ever Creta N Line. Confirmed to be a global model, it’ll be launched initially in South America with other markets including India (and likely ASEAN) to follow later in the year.
Inspired by the carmaker’s high-performance Hyundai N models, the N Line serves as a sort-of in-between; think GR Sport to Toyota’s full-blown GR models.
Like the other members of the Hyundai N Line family, the Creta N Line gets differentiated styling. Upfront, it gets a more aggressive face with a slimmer dark chrome grille with angular inserts also present in the Tucson. The segmented headlight design continues but now comes with LED lighting. LED lighting is also found in the triangular front fog lights. Towards the side, it benefits from sporty 17-inch alloy wheels, while at the back is a revised hatch with new creases that accentuate the LED taillights. Twin exhausts and a smattering of N Line badging complete the exterior changes.
Inside, the Creta N Line gets the same dose of sporty style with the N Line badging on the seats, steering wheel, and shift knob. Contrast red stitching completes the transformation. Specifications include a sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless connectivity, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a full TFT instrument cluster.
Powering the Creta N Line is a 120-horsepower, 172 Nm of torque 1.0-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic. However, it’s also possible that Hyundai will add other options for global markets and candidates include a turbocharged 1.4-liter making 138 horsepower and 242 Nm of torque and a normally-aspirated 2.0-liter with 159 horsepower and 191 Nm of torque.
As for pricing, Hyundai hasn’t revealed the pricing of the Creta N Line, but it is positioned above the Venue and just below the Kona in terms of the product hierarchy. In that regard, it will likely go head-to-head with the likes of the MG ZS T and the Geely Coolray. So far,
