Mahindra is unveiling the XUV400 electric SUV today and it is the automaker’s first-ever electric SUV. Despite that, Mahindra already has high expectations for its electric SUV in the country.
While official details about the XUV400 are just a few hours from being officially released, we expect the upcoming electric SUV to come with a 40kWh to 45kWh Li-Ion battery pack and a 140bhp to 150bhp electric motor with almost 300Nm of torque.
In addition to this, we expect this electric SUV to have fast charging capability and have a real-world range of As such, we expect a real-world range of around 320km to 350km. Also, we expect the model to come with a price tag of around Rs 20 lakh.
Also, an interesting fact about the Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV is that the model is slightly longer than the Mahindra XUV300 SUV and measures almost 4.2-metres in length. This is because the model is directly based on the Ssangyong Tivoli.
Thanks to the longer body, we expect the Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV to sport a larger boot than the Mahindra XUV300 – Which was one of the biggest drawbacks of the latter. Moreover, the added length could be surprising to many people considering the tax benefits for sub-4m vehicles in the country. However, it is worth mentioning that electric cars do not benefit from this “hack”.
As a result, Mahindra can not only have more space on the inside, but the automaker can also position the model in between the Tata Nexon EV Max and MG ZS EV.
In terms of design, the upcoming Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV sports similar body lines as the Mahindra XUV300 SUV and Ssangyong Tivoli SUV. However, the model also sports a few distinct and unique design elements to help it stand out and identify as an electric vehicle.
For this, Mahindra XUV400 like most electric vehicles comes with a completely sealed front grille, aerodynamic alloy wheels, and Electric-Blue design elements on both inside and outside of the electric SUV.
Analysing the previously released teaser images, we can see that the Mahindra XUV400 also comes with a different bumper, slightly similar headlights but with slightly blue-ish DRLs, a new rear bumper, and a new tail light with different graphics.
In terms of features, we expect the Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV to sport a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, climate control, digital instrument cluster, drive modes, wireless charging, rear AC, ventilated front seats, and a lot more as well.
In terms of safety, we expect the upcoming Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV to score a 5-Star safety rating as the XUV300 has been awarded a 5-Star safety rating for Adult Occupant Protection by Global-NCAP. Moreover, we expect safety features such as 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control (TC), and much more.
