Have you ever been told the truth about classic cars? They are indeed wonderfully analogue examples of how driving was way back when. Beautiful, mechanical, something to truly cherish. However, running a classic as a daily driver can be a considerably more painful experience, especially in the modern world. A company called Lunaz might have a solution for you, especially if you love the original Range Rover.
Lunaz specialises in classic car conversions, or more specifically, restoring and applying an all-electric drivetrain. It has already completed projects involving iconic Jaguar, Bentley and Rolls-Royce models, but now is the turn of the legendary Range Rover.
Every car starts as a Range Rover in need of some TLC, with the Lunaz team applying a bare-metal restoration of the vehicle before any modifications to the drivetrain. An EV all-wheel drive system will be married to the classic chassis to ensure that the car’s all-terrain credentials are preserved, but its urban refinement and overall performance will surpass its original specification.
The car will be offered in two guises, ‘Town’ and ‘Country’ with the latter having a greater focus on off-roading. Both will receive interiors that feature modern technologies, but are sympathetic to the original design. Lunaz will also customise each electric Range Rover to its owner’s exacting desires.
Lunaz’s restomods have been gaining plenty of global attention, with the British business based in Silverstone set to double its workforce. There’s also a planned expansion of its production facilities.
We don’t have any details on range or power output, but we do know that each Range Rover – three or five door – will cost from £245,000. A fair chunk of change to say the least, but then this is a pretty unique EV to be seen in. The plan is to create just 50 of these classic electric vehicles for wealthy individuals wanting vintage looks, but green motoring.
