German tuner’s latest creation develops 662kW for twin-turbo V8-powered Mercedes-AMG GLS 63
Famed German tuner Brabus has launched its latest creation that’s based on the current 2023 Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 – the Brabus 900 Superblack.
Following on from the $1 million G-wagen-based Brabus P900 Pocket Rocket ute, the new 2023 Brabus 900 Superblack blends outlandish styling with huge performance.
The visual tweaks include carbon-fibre components such as a new front splitter and grille insert, fender flares, rear spoiler and diffuser.
These combine with a set of towering 24-inch monobloc forged alloy wheels.
Under the bonnet, the 900 Superblack features a development of the Rocket 900 sedan’s 4.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8, which in the three-row family SUV produces a prodigious 662kW and 1250Nm of torque.
Combined with four-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic, that’s enough for an incredible 0-100km/h dash of just 3.6 seconds, says the German tuner, putting it on par with the latest all-wheel drive BMW M3 Touring.
The regular GLS 63 S produces 450kW/850Nm from its 4.0-litre biturbo V8.
Inside, the 900 Superblack features Brabus’ quilted perforated leather upholstery with black piping and intricate stitching.
Other alterations include bespoke trim panels, handles, switches, speaker covers and new air vents.
In Europe, the wild Brabus 900 Superblack is priced from around €565,000 ($A935,000), but there’s no indication at this stage that the tuner will offer the Ferrari-hunting SUV Down Under.
