Let your imagination run wild starting next year.
The all-new 2022 Land Rover Range Rover SV was fully revealed not long ago and it’s stunning. You have to see it in the flesh to truly appreciate the extraordinary attention to detail inside and out. But the UK carmaker wants customers to focus and take full advantage of even greater personalization levels. It turns out there are in excess of 1.6 million unique design configurations once the order books open early next year.
“Working with the finest materials and innovative technologies has enabled us to introduce even more luxury into every part of the new Range Rover SV,” said Michael van der Sande, managing director of Special Vehicle Operations. “This attention to detail and quality is evident throughout the vehicle and is symbolized by our new white ceramic SV roundel on the tailgate.”
That piece of craftsmanship will be used from this point onward to identify every new SVO model. Additional tactile ceramic can be found inside, specifically on the gear shifter and Terrain Response and volume controls. .
Crafting this ceramic is a 10-week process, requiring raw material to be injected to create the ideal shape, and then sintered at over 2,700 degrees Fahrenheit. A precision grinder takes over from there, creating an even surface before it’s either diamond polished or sand-blasted to create a gloss or satin finish. Buyers can even request a ceramic embossed mosaic pattern instead of wood or metal trim. Interior wood veneers consist of hundreds of hand-laid laser-cut pieces. The smallest? Only one-quarter by one-third inches.
More traditional customers will appreciate the variety of extremely soft leather options, such as the standard semi-aniline with SV-specific embroidery patterns, and even furniture-grade hide. Younger more eco-conscious buyers may prefer leather alternatives like polyurethane Light Cloud and Cinder Grey Ultrafabrics that are 30 percent lighter than leather and generate just a quarter of C02 during production.
The exterior can be adorned with metal-plated trim on the grille, lower tailgate, and rear fender ingot. There’s even an optional bodyside graphic with a laser-etched ‘SV’ logo. Classy. A number of paint options, including 14 SV Bespoke Premium Palettes, are also on hand.
And then there’s the SV Bespoke Match to Sample paint program, essentially allowing customers to create any color they want (for a price). To help make the overall customization process easier, Range Rover came up with two specially curated design themes, Serenity and Intrepid. Cool additional touches like Corinthian Bronze contrast roof and wheel accents (Serenity) and Anthracite and Graphite Atlas elements (Intrepid) make the Range Rover SV an even greater standout.
Only one engine choice is available: a new turbocharged V8 with 523 horsepower on tap. Final pricing and other specifications for both the standard and long-wheelbase body styles will be announced closer to the on-sale date.
