Putting an end to all the speculations, Maruti Suzuki has announced the facelifted version of the second-generation model of its popular three-row MPV Ertiga. The refreshed Ertiga has arrived with a few new features, styling tweaks in and out, a new petrol engine and a new automatic transmission. Like most of the facelifts that come from Maruti Suzuki, the new Ertiga features only mild revisions to its styling. The front fascia looks mildly tweaked with new inverted L-shaped chrome inserts in the grille and extensions between the front fog lamp housings and air dam on the front bumper.
There are not many external changes on the car
A set of 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels have replaced the erstwhile gunmetal alloy wheels of similar size. At the back, the boot lid comes with a new chrome garnish. Maruti Suzuki has introduced two new colour options for the Ertiga, Dignity Brown and Splendid Silver, apart from four other colour options from the previous version – Magma Grey, Auburn Red, Oxford Blue and Arctic White.
What’s new inside the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga?
The cabin gets a few tweaks as well
On the inside, the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga comes with a new metallic teak wooden finish in place of a light brown faux wood finish for the cabin inserts. Also new to the cabin is a 7-inch Smartplay Pro touchscreen infotainment system, which had already made its debut in the Zeta variants of Baleno. In addition, the automatic variants of the Ertiga also come with paddle shifters – a first for a Maruti Suzuki product.
Maruti Suzuki has added four airbags to the car
While dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and ISOFIX mounts for child seats are available as standard, the top-spec variants now also come with side airbags, thus taking the total count to four airbags.
2022 Ertiga gets massive changes under the hood
Under the hood, the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga gets a revised form of its 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated K-Series engine. The engine now features DualJet technology which has already made its way in the 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre engines K-Series petrol engines from Maruti Suzuki. The new engine produces 105 PS of maximum power and 136.8 Nm of maximum torque, which makes it 1.8 Nm less torquey compared to the engine it has replaced.
New Ertiga gets the six-speed automatic for the first time
Apart from the standard 5-speed manual gearbox, the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga also receives a new 6-speed torque converter, which replaces the old 4-speed unit. Maruti Suzuki claims fuel efficiency figures of 20.51 kmpl for the manual versions and 20.3 kmpl for the automatic versions of the Ertiga.
In addition, the Ertiga is also available in a CNG-powered version in two mid-spec variants. Based on the new 1.5-litre K-Series DualJet petrol engine, the CNG version of this powertrain in Ertiga makes 102 PS of maximum power and 136 Nm of maximum torque. In pure CNG mode, the power and torque outputs of Ertiga CNG drop down to 88 PS and 121.5 Nm. For the Ertiga CNG, Maruti Suzuki claims a fuel efficiency of 26.11 km/kg.
