The past few weeks have been filled with unveilings of the new Formula 1 cars that are competing in the 2023 championship.
All 10 teams revealed their racers between 31 January and 16 February, with new sponsorship deals and bodywork elements supplying breathtaking designs.
The cars will be in action on Sunday, 5 March in Bahrain, which is the first race out of 23 planned for the season. The final one concludes 38 weeks later on Sunday, 26 November in Abu Dhabi.
The upcoming championship is set to be one for the record books with revised regulations, fresh faces, and new race locations sprucing things up.
All eyes will be on Red Bull to see if its star driver, Max Verstappen, will be able to secure his third consecutive trophy with both Ferrari and Mercedes barking at his heels. There have again been several rule changes regarding vehicle development for the new year, so, at least for now, it remains anyone’s game.
Additionally, six teams boast different drive line-ups in 2023 than they did the year before, and several rookies are taking to the tarmac including Logan Sargeant for Williams, Nyck de Vries for AlphaTauri, and Oscar Piastri for McLaren.
The 2023 championship will further see six sprint races, which are 100km dashes with the first car to reach the line earning the starting spot on the grid for Sunday’s main event. For this year, the sprint rules have also been slightly tweaked with DRS activation being brought forward by one lap as well as Safety Car restarts within Sprints.
We’ll see these races taking place on Saturdays in Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Brazil, Qatar, and the United States.
Last but not least, Las Vegas is back on the map for the first time since 1982, hosting the second-last event on 19 November.

It’s worth mentioning that the designs of these vehicles are bound to change throughout the course of the season. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has all but confirmed that the RB19 will undergo some cosmetic changes as the year progresses, and Alpine, too, is switching from a predominantly-pink to a mostly-blue car after the third race.
