Land Rover has revealed the upgraded 2024 Range Rover Velar ahead of its third quarter 2023 Australian first deliveries. A subtle but worthwhile update, the upgraded Range Rover Velar sports subtle styling changes in line with the new Range Rover, a range of new technology and nan upgraded plug-in hybrid system that’s now capable of travelling up to 69km on electric power (on the NEDC cycle). Priced from $106,150 plus on-road costs, the upgraded Range Rover Velar is available to order now.

Stylistically, the 2024 Range Rover Velar has not changed much – there are new headlight and tailight designs, the grille and bumpers are new too, while the range of available wheels and the colour palette has also seen some changes. The headlights are now available as Pixel LED units, which are claimed to offer three times as many LEDs as Matrix LED units with 67 LEDs in four pixel units.
Inside the 2024 Range Rover Velar has seen bigger upgrades, including upgrading to Land Rover’s latest ‘Pivi Pro7’ infotainment system, which now uses an enlarged 11.4-inch curved touchscreen that features both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as an eSIM and a cloud-based architecture. It can be upgraded using over-the-air updates, while it also has Amazon Alexa, what3words and even an app store to download apps such as Spotify. The former dual-screen set up – which had a separate screen below the main screen for the HVAC system – has now been moved to the single new screen.
The Velar now has active road noise cancellation as well, which has reduced road noise by 4dB, making it the quietest vehicle in its class, according to Land Rover. Other interior changes include four new upholstery colours, a wireless charger in the centre console and even a new optional leather-free upholstery option with suede from Danish company Kvadrat.
Land Rover has also altered the 2024 Range Rover Velar lineup with the deletion of the former base model P250 S. The lineup now starts with the Dynamic SE P250 (priced from $106,150 plus on-road costs) while new Dynamic SE D300, Dynamic SE P400e and – at the top end – Autobiography P400 variants have been added to the range.
The plug-in hybrid Velar P400e has been upgraded with a larger 19.2kWh battery, which allows for 18km more of electric range, up to 69km on the NEDC cycle. It still uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and 105kW electric motor combination for 297kW and 640Nm in total. Importantly for charging convenience, the Velar P400e can be DC rapid charged at up to 50kW.
Other drivetrains in the 2024 Range Rover Velar lineup remain unchanged – the 184kW/365Nm 2.0-litre ‘P250’ sits at the bottom of the range, with the 221kW/650Nm 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel ‘D300’ sitting above it and the 294kW/550Nm 3.0-litre turbo inline-six petrol ‘P400’ sitting above that. Both six-cylinder engines use 48V mild hybrid technology to boost performance and help reduce emissions.
