> Facelifted Mercedes G-Class seen winter testing
> Will get a refreshed look inside and out
> Same engines, but all-electric G on the way
> Likely to be revealed late 2022
2022 Mercedes G-Class: what is it?
It's the brutish Mercedes G-Class, which has been on sale in its current form in the UK since 2018. That means it's time for a nip and tuck to keep it feeling fresh.
Here we can see a couple of AMG G63 test mules out winter testing in the snow, with plenty of camo suggesting a new exterior look for the big G.
It looks to be changes to the bumpers and grille in the main – the headlights don't look to have been refreshed, not the rest of the general shape.
2022 Mercedes G-Class: what is it powered by?
The current G-Class range consists of a G400d diesel and a sporty AMG G63 version.
We very much doubt that Mercedes will change this line-up, or add a plug-in hybrid model, given it is already working on a fully-electric G which is revealed in part recently.
Of course, all-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox will continue to be standard too.
2022 Mercedes G-Class: when will it be on sale?
We don't yet have info on when the new G-Class will go on sale, be we expect it to be revealed and on sale later in 2022.
2022 Mercedes G-Class: how much will it cost?
The G-Class isn't a cheap car, hence its iconic status as an SUV for the wealthy. Right now it starts from around £108,000 for the diesel and £160,000 for the AMG G64, so we expect both these prices to head north once the facelifted model is revealed.
