Mercedes AMG showcases electric performance saloon
The flagship models of the forthcoming Mercedes-Benz EQE all-electric saloon have been revealed by Mercedes-AMG – the EQE 43 4MATIC and EQE 53 4MATIC+.
The electric super saloons pack in 350 kW (476 hp) and 460 kW (626 hp) respectively, though there’s also an AMG Dynamic Plus Pack available for the EQE 53 that boosts power further to 505 kW (687 hp).
This means the EQE 43 will complete the 0-62mph sprint in 4.2 seconds, while the EQE 53 covers it in 3.5 seconds, or shaves 0.2 seconds further off with the performance pack.
Both are powered by twin electric motors for all-wheel drive, designed to deal with high performance requirements repeatedly.
Dynamic mode select settings include Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Race Start. AMG has also paid attention to the chassis and suspension, ensuring the EQE models handle as well as they propel themselves forward.
As flagship models, the EQE 43 and 53 models come highly equipped with AMG styling and equipment details throughout, 20- or 21-inch alloys, Mercedes’ Hyperscreen glass touchscreen dashboard as an option, and Navigation with Electric Intelligence.
DC charging is possible at up to 170 kW, and AC charging can be carried out at 11 kW as standard and 22 kW with the optional higher-powered on-board charger fitted.
Driving ranges are 331 miles on a charge for the EQE 43 and 322 miles for the EQE 53 from the 90.6 kWh battery.
The UK will not get the EQE 43 model, but the EQE 53 with or without Performance Pack will. Prices and specifications will be revealed closer to UK launch.
