The EQE is Mercedes-EQ’s new business klasse electric sedan
Singapore – Ok… it’s another electric vehicle. This time, it is a sedan. Mercedes-Benz’s electric vehicle brand, Mercedes-EQ brings us their interpretation of the E-Class, the EQE Sedan. This brings the EQ lineup to six here, once the EQE goes to launch at the end of October.
Mercedes, known for doing their “scale-up, scale-down” car design thing, unveiled to us, what looks like a scaled-down version of the EQS flagship sedan. The obvious visual differentiation here is that the EQE does not have that fancy light strip between the bonnet and “grille”.
The variant here is the EQE 350+, when with COE added, will set you back $396,888. The jelly-mould body shape is intended for optimum aerodynamics, while short front and rear overhangs provide room for more battery.
On the inside, the EQE’s dashboard is a near exact replica of the one found in the EQS, which includes an upright 12.3-inch instrument panel, and a portrait 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, powered by the MBUX operating system. Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the Hyperscreen dashboard will be available on higher-spec EQE variants, which will be made available in the future.
The EQE gets its drive from a rear electric motor, which produces 292bhp and 565Nm. It clocks 100km/h in 6.4 seconds, and maxes out at 210km/h. The range provided by the 90.56kWh battery is claimed to be from between 587km and 669km. A 170kW DC fast charge from 10% to 80% will take around half an hour.
Standard equipment on the EQE include a driver assistance package, which include adaptive cruise control and pre-collision brake assist. There are also optional extras which you can add, like a Burmester premium 3D audio system and head-up display.
Accompanying the EQE, there will also be an EQE SUV coming to Singapore. However, we cannot provide anything more for now, as Mercedes-Benz here is still ironing out details on when it will arrive.
