Mint-condition ‘last off the line’ Land Rover Defender 110 Adventure up for grabs in online auction
The opportunity to own one of the final examples of the last-generation Land Rover Defender 110 – a rare special-edition model in mint condition – has emerged.
The final wagon (#600) of the 600-run special-edition 2016 Land Rover Defender 110 Adventure is up for grabs via online auction in the UK, where it currently resides with the original owner in Warwickshire and has just 52 miles (84km) on the clock.
The Adventure Edition was one of the farewell versions of the previous-generation 4×4 off-road icon, which rolled out of the company’s Solihull factory for the last time in January 2016.
This shining showroom-fit example is expected to fetch upwards of £80,000 ($A150,000) when the virtual hammer drops with global auction site Collecting Cars.
Fitted with a 90kW 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission, the Adventure Edition came with a range of special-edition goodies including a bright orange paint option, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a rooftop tray, wading snorkel, LED projector headlights and extra underbody protection, just to name a few.
According to the auctioneer, this example also comes with a spare OEM front bumper with integrated Warn winch, a GPS tracking system, central locking, the original owner’s manual and a USB drive containing photos of the vehicle coming off the factory line.
Said to be in “pristine, as-new condition throughout”, the 600/600 Adventure Edition has been in storage for the past six years, with the Phoenix Orange paint and leather upholstery all in tip-top condition.
Collecting Cars founder Edward Lovett said the Land Rover Defender is one of the great automotive icons.
“You can buy a useable classic for £10,000 or acquire one of the rarest V8 factory models for more than £100,000,” he said.
“This 110 Adventure is the very last of just 600 built, remains in as-new condition and is bound to attract significant interest from our global audience of collectors.” At the time of writing, the highest bid is at £33,333 ($A63,069), with just under a week to go.
