- Proton X50 vs BAIC Beijing X55 vs Haval Jolion: Which one has the best infotainment system?
It's time for another infotainment comparison and today we will be choosing a winner between the Proton X50, the BAIC Beijing X55 and Haval's Jolion.
Proton X50
The X50 features either an 8.0-inch or a 10.25-inch infotainment system with the brand’s ACO Tech Local Automotive Services (ATLAS) operating system that can be updated over-the-air (OTA). The system lacks Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, but features an app store, configurable widgets, navigation, a multi display screen and the QD link system, which looks like a slightly underdeveloped version of CarPlay, but purports to have similar features.
The X50 also gets a digitised instrument cluster that can display a variety of driving and media-related information while on-the-go.
BAIC Beijing X55
The X55 features a 10.1-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, however, the system is not as easy to use as many others, so check out our Beijing X55 Apple CarPlay and Android Auto user guide.
In addition to the infotainment system’s central screen, there is also a 10.25-inch digitised instrument cluster with configurable information, and since the technology on offer is sourced from Daimler as part of the ‘BAIC Benz’ partnership in China, which you can read more about here, we are confident that the infotainment experience will be a good one.
Haval Jolion
Flagship ‘Super Luxury’ variants of the Jolion come with a 12.3-inch infotainment system with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, while other niceties such as a head-up display, a wireless smartphone charger and a digital instrument cluster make the Jolion’s user experience reasonably good in the sub-R500 000 crossover price category.
Verdict
Having experienced all of these systems first-hand, we have to give the win to the Haval Jolion in this instance as it sports the largest screen and offers the easiest smartphone integration solution.
