Take a closer look at the running costs of a Haval Jolion and find out what you can expect from its fuel economy in both claimed and real world and find out how much services will cost you out of the service plan.
The Haval brand is going from strength to strength and over the last few years we’ve seen them sell more cars each month, steadily climbing up the ranks. This is thanks to attractive styling, impressive standard features, and pricing. One of their most popular offerings is the Jolion, the replacement for the H2. The Jolion is the most affordable Haval product, making it appealing for many looking to get into a new vehicle.
Affordable initial pricing is one thing, but the running and maintenance of the vehicle have to be factored in as well. Let’s take a closer look at some of the costs you must consider when purchasing a Haval Jolion.
Fuel consumption
1.5-litre petrol engines power the entire Haval Jolion range. All models, except for the HEV hybrid versions, are turbocharged. They send power to the front wheels through either a manual or automatic gearbox. These turbocharged offerings are said to return a claimed combined cycle fuel consumption of 7.5 l/100km, giving them a range of 760 km from a single tank. Naturally, individual driving habits and styles will see this number differ and real-world figures. Our test have shown the Jolion (non-S model) to return figures of 9.1 l/100.
They are equipped with 57-litre fuel tanks, which will cost approximately R1 280 for a full tank (at the current fuel price of R22.46 for Unleaded 95 inland).
The Jolion HEV has a 1.5-litre engine and electrification, bringing that claimed fuel consumption down to 5.5 l/100km. These figures are fairly accurate and achievable when driving the Jolion HEV in a responsible manner. The 55-litre fuel tank will yield a theoretical range of 1 100 km from a full tank and cost approximately R1 235 to fill.
Services and maintenance
All Haval Jolion models are sold with a 5-year/100 00 km warranty for your peace of mind and come with a 5-year/60 000 km service plan. The Jolion is fairly new so even if you’re shopping for a used example, there should still be a balance of this service plan in place, taking care of your services for the next few years or until you complete 60 000 km.
Should you be looking at keeping it for longer than this, Haval quotes between R4 000 and R4 500 for a minor service (approximately) and roughly R7 500 to R8 800 for the major services at 90 000 km and 120 000 km. It will be worth checking with your local Haval dealership as the franchise nature of the dealerships will result in slightly different pricing.
You have the option of extending the service plan should you wish for a nominal fee.
