The Haval Jolion is a popular vehicle from Chinese manufacturer, GWM. The Haval brand has been going from strength to strength over the past few years and the Jolion continues to sell well, topping the sales charts for the firm and finding a place in many a new owner’s hearts.
The Haval Jolion range is rather extensive though and there are no fewer than eight different trim levels to choose from. The pricing starts from as little as R344 950* and goes all the way to R579 950* for the range-topping Jolion 1.5 HEV Super Luxury. It seems there’s a Jolion for nearly every budget!
Which Haval Jolion is better? Diesel or Petrol?
The Jolion range is available in City, Premium, Luxury, Super Luxury, and S trims, each offering its own blend of features and sophistication. City and Premium models are available with a manual gearbox while the rest are fitted with 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearboxes.
A 1.5-litre petrol engine powers all of the Jolions and there’s no diesel option available. What you can choose from though is power output. The Jolion in City, Premium, Luxury and Super Luxury trims are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes 105 kW and 210 Nm.
In the Jolion S (in Super Luxury trim) you get a little more power from the 1.5-litre mill, with this one producing 130 kW and 270 Nm torque. This one is also mated to a 7-speed automated dual-clutch gearbox.
With the Jolion HEV (available in Luxury and Super Luxury trim) you get the same 1.5-litre engine but this time it is paired with a hybrid drivetrain. This sees the power adjusted to 140 kW and 375 Nm. This is the most powerful and most fuel-efficient option of the range. This one employs an electrical drivetrain and doesn’t have a traditional gearbox. Not to fear though, it drives just as an automatic would.
