Less than a month after issuing a major recall for detaching window trim on its AMG and Maybach SUVs, Mercedes-Benz is recalling a population of its GLS full-size SUVs for third-row seatbacks that may fail in the event of a crash.
Affected SUVs include model-year 2021 AMG GLS63s and model-year 2020-22 GLS450s and GLS580s. This issue is with the third-row seatback lock, which may not restrain occupants as intended, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
As a resolution, dealers will inspect and replace the third-row seatback, as necessary, for free. Mercedes will begin notifying owners Nov. 29; those with further questions can contact the automaker at 800-367-6372, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
