Mercedes-AMG in mid-May unveiled its Vision AMG, the first concept car built atop its electric vehicle architecture.
Presented as a four-door coupe, the Vision AMG has a long wheelbase with a flippy tail and blunt nose that combine to create a sweeping profile not unlike that of the Vision EQXX. The EV’s front end features a closed-off, grille-like cutout with illuminated vertical bars typical of AMG; and tri-star headlight signatures designed in the image of the Benz logo.
Mercedes-AMG has taken a couple pages out of its Formula One team’s playbook and gone with the Mercedes-star motif decor on the rear end, too, along with teal-ringed 22-inch wheels with Pirelli tires; a teal-tipped diffuser; and exposed carbon-fibre accents. An active spoiler provides a little light show of its own on the rear end, with a light bar running the width above the six round LED tail lights.

Some of the car’s most futuristic features are the “Alubeam” silver-painted side and rear windows that match the colour of the body, and make it look like the car is ready not just for the highway, but for space.
Mercedes-AMG is building its AMG.EA architecture from the ground up, and will use batteries developed in-house and powertrains made by YASA, a company it purchased just last year, which it says will deliver “substantially more power.”

“The course has been well and truly set for an electrified future, and we’ve set the bar high. That’s because our customers expect something very special from all-electric cars,” said Philipp Schiemer, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, in a press release. “With this study, we are now offering a first glimpse of how we are transferring the AMG DNA into the all‑electric future, starting in 2025.”
Performance details and exactly what’s inside the car remains to be seen.
