The new Mercedes S-Class is fully alone, with no sports versions that are now late but will be unveiled in 2022. Because a release date has yet to be determined, Mansory hopes to pique buyers’ interest by presenting their own idea of a high-performance model based on the Mercedes S-Class 580.
Mechanically, it isn’t one of the new Mercedes S-crown Class’s jewels, but it also doesn’t distract from a version capable of real sporting performance.
The reality is that it is the most powerful version of the range today, without having to resort to the Maybach luxury variant, and considering that the top of the range tuned by the sports section has yet to show, arriving late.
The new Mercedes-AMG S 63 was supposed to be unveiled by the end of 2021, but it was unable to do so. Mansory has not extended the wait and has simply given its alternative after the German brand was forced to change its plans and postpone the presentation and debut until 2022. The bodywork of the opulent saloon has been painted white, a hue that contrasts beautifully with the exposed carbon fiber features and components that adorn the outside.
The big air intakes on the front bumper, the spoiler on the lower edge of the bumper, and the small but distinctive wings on the sides of the front end are all made of stylish lightweight material.
The Mercedes S-Class 580 Mansory is elevated to a new level of sportsmanship.
Mansory’s stylists have also opened some ventilation gills on the front wings, which have been adorned with a carbon fiber appliqué, of course. The side mirror casings, for example, have a more aggressive horn-shaped design evocative of BMW M vehicles.
The alloy wheels are similarly unique, with spokes in the shape of a “Y” and a diameter of 22 inches. But it’s in the back that the German coach has placed special emphasis and imbued an image more akin to an AMG.
The S-Class 580 ditches its beautiful and integrated bumper trims in favor of a lower-body insert with four square tailpipes, a stunning aerodynamic diffuser with channels in the center, and a third brake light in its purest form. At the bottom, there’s a Formula 1 style. In addition, there is a particular spoiler on the edge of the trunk lid, which is very thin and composed of carbon fiber.
The kit solely modifies the outside, as Mansory has not published any images of the inside or mentioned the cabin.
The outside aspect is unmistakably intimidating and athletic, but there is one significant difference: performance. The 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine, which is coupled with 48-volt MHEV technology and provides a maximum output of 503 horsepower, has not been modified by Mansory. A 9-speed automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive are available on this model.
Despite the 4.4 seconds it takes to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h, the new AMG S 63 4MATIC, the first high-performance plug-in hybrid to come with proprietary “AMG E Performance” technology in 2022, will be a long way from the performance of the new AMG S 63 4MATIC.
