Fresh concept developed by performance division and US pop star suggest unlikely blend of G-Wagen snout and AMG GT 4Door
Mercedes-AMG and Will.I.Am have begun teasing an all-new one-off that appears to combine a G-Class’ face with the body of an AMG GT 4-Door body ahead of its May 5 debut.
Sharing new images on its Instagram page, the new tease suggests the bizarre new AMG GT 4-Door based sports car will apply styling cues from the rugged Mercedes-Benz G-Class and the rear-end styling from the AMG GT 4-Door.
Other unusual features of the Will.I.Am-AMG creation include, what appears to be, a pair of suicide doors and SLR-inspired front fenders.
Beneath the skin, the wild modified four-door sedan is expected to be based on the mighty Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE Performance that combines a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 with AMG’s latest plug-in ‘P3’ hybrid. Combined, the electric super sedan produces a monstrous 620kW and 1470Nm of torque.
According to the US rapper, singer, songwriter and producer who is most famous as being one of the founders of music group, Black Eyed Peas, said the motivation behind creating the unnamed one-off was creating “a car for Mercedes-AMG that will help fund inner-city school engineering programs to prepare our youth for a technological tomorrow”. That suggest the unveiled car will be auctioned off post-reveal with all proceeds going to charity.
