Although it was in the British company’s plans when it was a concept car, the contemporary Land Rover Defender was released without a practical canvas roof. Despite this, the Heritage Customs team has approved the newest idea and will produce the much-anticipated Defender Convertible.
Heritage Customs unveiled the first sketches of the new project they were working on at the beginning of December. A Land Rover Defender Convertible is hidden behind the cumbersome moniker of Heritage Customs Valiance Convertible. Niels van Roij Design, a Dutch bodybuilder, will achieve what the British brand hasn’t dared to do.
An intriguing concept that will modify the Land Rover Defender 90’s look, particularly from the back.
The new SUV, which has evolved into the brand’s signature vehicle, will see the back of the cabin disappear, along with the rear pillars, presenting a fully open and innovative space. Furthermore, the Dutch will need to sufficiently reinforce the chassis structure, which will include a new framework between the windscreen frame and the central pillars. As a result, the sunroof will only cover the back of the vehicle.
The designers want to follow the style presented by Niels van Roij’s specialists to the millimeter, and to place an electric canvas roof that will fold in the shape of a “Z” on the back of the Land Rover model, without specified ceiling accommodation.
This will be the primary feature of the only five units that will be produced, which Heritage Customs has already confirmed for 2022. Despite the fact that the customizing options are unlimited, the Dutch have already progressed two combinations.
The exterior comes in three metallic colors: Kokkini Paralia (dark red), Solihull Sand, and Côte Blue, all of which are complemented by sumptuous 22-inch diameter alloy wheels with white flashes. or white in its whole The engine ventilation grills in the front wings or on the hood panel are finished in a rusty or matte black finish, and the bumpers are black. The canvas roof comes in two colors: beige and black.
Of course, they will also provide a unique image on the inside. The best materials will cover an interior that is practically handcrafted, with the sporty front seats and the special steering wheel featuring attractive and luxurious upholstery in Italian “Spinneybeck” leather.
They have not revealed the final appearance of the steering wheel, but they have revealed one of the key cards of this creation: the price. It costs no less than 138,500 Euros as is, without any customisation to fit the client’s needs, taxes, or estimates. Of course, this does not include the cost of the Defender 90, which is estimated to be over 65,000 Euros.
