The British automaker, Land Rover has revealed Defender 90 Rally Special with a unique livery. The new livery on the Land Rover Defender 90 Rally Special marks the 60 years of the James Bond movie series.
According to sources, the Land Rover Defender 90 Rally Special wrapped in James Bond special livery will take part in the 2022 Bowler Defender Challenge.
Speaking about the Bowler Challenge, it is a 12-team, one-make rally series held in the United Kingdom. This means each team will be driving identical rally-prepared Land Rover Defenders.
According to sources, both experienced and inexperienced drivers can participate in the Bowler Challenge, and to further promote the series, Bowler will provide assistance to new drivers in order for them to obtain the appropriate licence to compete in the series.
Also, the Bowler Challenge serves as a feeder series for prestigious rally contests such as the Dakar race.
The Defender taking part in this competition will be driven by James Bond stunt driver, Mark Higgins. However, Mark Higgins will be taking part only in the North Wales leg of the 2022 Bowler Defender Challenge.
Speaking about Mark Higgins, he is a three-time British Rally Champion and stunt driver in four James Bond films such as Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time To Die. Apart from that, the competition will also mark the return of Mark Higgins to rallying.
Speaking about the special livery on the Land Rover Defender 90, it features a black and gold theme that reflects the 60th-anniversary celebration of the James Bond movie franchise. To achieve this look, the livery features iconic ‘007’ logos and number 60 on the doors.
In addition to this, to make the vehicle stand out and feel a bit more special, the roof is of the Land Rover Defender is finished in gold, and the names of all James Bond movies are featured on the bonnet and tailgate.
Under the skin of this special competition prepared Land Rover Defender 90 is a P300 Ingenium powertrain. This engine is a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine capable of pushing out 296bhp of peak power at 5,500rpm and 400Nm of peak torque from 1,500rpm onwards. Like other Land Rover Defenders, it comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
However, since this Land Rover Defender is a competition-ready model, it comes kitted with additional performance improving kits such as an improved cooling system for the engine and gearbox, less restrictive sports exhaust, redesigned roof spoiler, a new suspension system with modified subframes and new springs, and 18-inch Bowler wheels with all-terrain tyres.
Thanks to these changes, expect the competition version of the Land Rover Defender to produce more power and feature improved handling over the standard Land Rover Defender 90.
