Australian expressions of interest open for heavily updated mid-size French SUV ahead of launch
Less than a week after confirming to carsales the facelifted 2023 Citroen C5 Aircross was indeed headed Down Under, Citroen Australia has started taking expressions of interest for the updated mid-size SUV.
Due in local showrooms by mid-year, the upgraded C5 Aircross will once again be offered in just the single guise Down Under, that being the fully-loaded Sport.
Pricing for the new model hasn’t been revealed yet but the bulk of its specification details have. Headline upgrades are fresh exterior styling, more standard equipment, higher engine outputs and a new eight-speed automatic transmission.
The new ‘box is paired to a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine now developing 133kW/250Nm (+12kW/10Nm), all of which is sent to the front wheels.
The upgraded powertrain powers a comprehensively restyled exterior featuring more creases and contours, plus redesigned bumpers, lighting signatures and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin will be a redesigned centre console featuring a new gear lever and drive mode selector, along with a new 10-inch infotainment interface, black Nappa leather upholstery with contrasting blue stitching, heated seats, power seat adjustment for the driver as well as a massage function and panoramic sunroof as standard.
Standard safety highlights include autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection, speed limit recognition, tyre pressure monitoring, electronic braking distribution, dynamic stability control and traction control.
Citroen Australia manager director Kate Gillis said the 2023 C5 Aircross Sport and the recently released Citroen C5 X would complement each other in the medium SUV segment and provide “greater choice for Australian consumers”.
“Appealing to the discerning Citroen customer in Australia, C5 Aircross Sport offers a compelling package with Citroen’s signature Advanced Comfort philosophy influencing all aspects of the vehicle, a distinctive and modern exterior design and a comfortable and stylish interior, coupled with important safety and convenience features.”
Six colours will be offered from launch: Polar White, Perla Nera Black, Platinum Grey, Steel Grey, Eclipse Blue and Pearlescent White.
Expressions of interest can be made via the Citroen Australia website or your preferred dealer. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
