Alfa Romeo has added a new high-spec trim to its Stelvio SUV line-up for buyers who can’t quite stretch to the range-topping 503bhp Quadrifoglio.
Called the Stelvio Veloce Ti, it follows the lead of the Giulia Veloce Ti introduced a couple of years ago, adding a new rear bumper and diffuser, and body-coloured body kit.
A set of gorgeous 21-inch five-hole alloys pictured here, and surely a must-have, are also available, but you’ll have to pay extra.
Inside the cabin there are more Quadrifoglio-derived touches, including aluminium gearshift paddles, sports seats upholstered in leather and Alcantara, a black headlining, and various bits of real carbon fibre trim.
The under-bonnet hardware might not be as exciting as the Quadrifoglio’s Ferrari-derived 2.9-litre V6, but it should get the Veloce Ti down the road as quickly as most people would want to go.
That’s because the sole engine and gearbox combination is the Stelvio’s 276bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, which drives all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Alfa hasn’t released a price yet, but given a Stelvio Veloce costs £ 49,320, and the Veloce Ti package commanded a £6k premium on the Giulia saloon, a £55k bill before options looks likely.
Other changes coming for the 2021 model year include various connectivity updates, including a My Assistant SOS call function, remote control of door locks and lights and My Wi-Fi, which shares the car’s internet connection to up to eight devices.
