Looking for the most expensive Mercedes-Benz cars you can buy right now? Look no further.

People who buy a new Mercedes-Benz have money to spare, and they're more than happy to spend it on a luxury vehicle. As one of the world's most famous luxury automakers for over a century, Mercedes is synonymous with not only luxury but also major advancements in automotive technologies. Its long history in motorsport brings even greater prestige. That all comes at a price, however.

While there are many rare icons in Mercedes’ back catalog that have fetched a pretty penny – like the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR that became the most expensive car in the world at $142 million last year or the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR race car that fetches $8-10 million when auctioned – buying a new Mercedes is substantially cheaper. But, there are levels, and expensive Mercedes-Benz cars are still six-figure machines.

So what are the most expensive Mercedes-Benz cars you can buy in 2023? Read on.

1. Mercedes-AMG ONE: $2.75 Million

What is the most expensive Mercedes-Benz? This. First shown as a concept in 2017, the Mercedes-AMG One is literally the closest thing one can get to buying a Formula 1 race car for the road, and even features a 1.6-liter turbocharged F1 engine combined with four electric motors for a combined output of 1,049 horsepower. Its top speed clocks in at 219 mph, and its extensive carbon fiber construction helps lower its weight.

This is no mere supercar, this is a weapon of a hypercar around a track that makes the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR and SLR McLaren look like Happy Meal toys. It’s not just the most expensive car from the Mercedes-Benz AMG family, but it’s also the fastest around any race track, including the Nurburgring and Monza. And, it has the highest price, too, setting owners back $2.75 million. The downside? It’s not legal in the USA.

It may not have the cool gullwing doors like the original SL – the timeless icon developed by Rudolf Uhlenhaut and the world's first supercar – but its butterfly doors are still immensely cool and will end up in a Mercedes-Benz museum one day as a never-to-be-repeated icon of performance.

2. Mercedes-Maybach S 680 4MATIC: $229,000

The Mercedes-Maybach S 680 4Matic is, quite simply, the most expensive Mercedes sedan you can buy today. It's for those who don't feel the “standard” S-Class Sedan is good enough. The Maybach brand isn't new but was revived in recent years as Mercedes's direct answer to Rolls-Royce and Bentley, owned by arch-rivals BMW and the Volkswagen Group, respectively.

The S 680 4MATIC comes powered by a handcrafted 6.0-liter bi-turbo V12 with a total of 621 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. All of that power is routed to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission. Buyers have a long list of custom options, including several two-tone paint combinations, standard exterior and interior all-LED lighting, and a unique Maybach grille. It can be all yours for a starting price of $229,000. We must emphasize “starting price” because the folks at Maybach will be more than happy to create additional customized features for anyone willing to pay.

3. Mercedes-AMG SL 63: $180,000

On the hunt for the most powerful Mercedes convertible on sale right now? The AMG SL 63 roadster is the answer. Starting at $180,000 in range-topping guise, this drop-top roadster not only previews the next-generation high-performance coupe – the AMG GT will share underpinnings and much of its design – but also has supercar-like performance.

With a maximum speed of 183 mph, a 0-60 mph time of 3.8 seconds, and all of the luxury one can desire, the AMG SL 63 is one of the most expensive Mercedes sports car on sale right now. Its potent 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 sends power out to 4Matic+ AWD through a nine-speed automatic transmission. Although most young people may not be able to afford one just yet, a buyer who can afford its high costs will never find themselves disappointed.

There’s more to come from the iconic SL, too, as an electric motor and hybrid system are expected to be added for an even more expensive SL73e in the future.

4. Mercedes-AMG G 63: $179,000

Not interested in heading to the race track but would rather go off-roading or travel the world? The AMG G63 is the answer. With a price tag starting at $179,000, the AMG G 63 carries on the G Wagon tradition that began in 1979 when the first generation SUV arrived.

Power comes courtesy of a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 (clearly a favorite engine type for Mercedes) that produces a total of 577 fire-breathing horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. That power is directed to an all-wheel drive system, called 4Matic in Mercedes-speak, through a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The wheels measure at 20 inches, which is very appropriate for an SUV. The interior is also roomier than that of the previous generation G-Wagen, and it's more luxurious than ever. This SUV has all the features one could expect from a Mercedes and, one day, we wouldn't be surprised to see it fetch big bucks at auction when EVs rule the world.

5. Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600: $170,000

Mercedes-Maybach knows how to cater to the ultra-rich and famous, hence this $170k SUV from the luxury arm of the company. The Maybach GLS is based on the regular GLS-Class SUV but, like its S-Class sibling, it gains a healthy dose of luxury, dropping the third row of seats in favor of ultra-luxurious second-row perches.

Its bi-turbo V8 delivers 550 horsepower and electrically-assisted torque through an EQ-Boost mild-hybrid system. You may not want to take it off-roading but its standard all-wheel drive system can handle some pretty tough conditions.

If the exterior styling doesn't exactly thrill you, then the interior definitely will. With features like a refrigerated compartment for champagne, up to five choices of wood panel coloring that are all hand-finished, 27 speakers, and rear reclining seats set in a lounge-like environment, the Maybach GLS is the closest thing you'll get to Business Class airline accommodations from Mercedes. And that $170,000 price tag is only the beginning as most buyers pay more for additional and customized features.

“To create the very best from the very best,” was the philosophy envisioned by brand founder Wilhelm Maybach, and with the Maybach GLS, he couldn't have been more correct.

6. Mercedes-AMG EQS Sedan: $148,000

It's time to shake things up a bit and enter the future. The Mercedes-AMG EQS Sedan is an all-electric, high-performance luxury machine packed with tons of advanced tech. It's something only Germany could build. Its power output begins at 649 horsepower but increases to 751 hp when equipped with the optional boost mode – nearly 50% more than the 1999 Vision SLR Concept.

The 107.8-kWh battery pack drives its electric motors, affording it 277 miles of EPA-rated range on a single charge, and is good for 76 MPGe city and 78 MPGe highway. Its performance is also something to behold, with a 0-60 mph time of three seconds flat, a quarter-mile spring of 11.4 seconds, and a top speed of 155 mph (electronically limited). With its $148,000 starting price, this EV commands a high-dollar income but we highly doubt owners will have any complaints.

7. Mercedes-AMG GLS 63: $141,000

Need something that can fit the entire family and go really, really fast? The Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 is calling out for you. Beginning at a hefty $141,000 (who says the kids need to go to college?), this three-row SUV is powered by an AMG-built twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine that makes a 603 horsepower with the added aid of a 48-volt hybrid system. All-wheel drive comes standard, as does a nine-speed automatic transmission and air suspension, and while it’ll smash a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds, it’ll also comfortably seat seven across three rows of seating.

It’s hardly likely to grace the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance any time soon, but it is one of the most expensive Mercedes-Benz vehicles in today's lineup and the second-priciest SUV after the AMG G 63.

The AMG GLS 63 is for those with lots of extra dollars in the bank and they're unafraid of spending it.

8. Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC SUV: $125,950

An all-electric Mercedes SUV? That's right. Like its EQS Sedan sibling, the EQS 580 4MATIC SUV is a pure battery-electric luxury vehicle without a combustion engine. With a total output of 536 hp and 633 lb-ft of torque, this SUV has a dual-motor, all-wheel drive system that’s quicker on the road than most of the combustion cars on this list. Try 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds.

It may not be the most expensive Mercedes-Benz in the world but it's definitely one of the most high-tech, and is only the start as Mercedes-Benz enters the electric era. The interior design and build quality are second to none and it makes a Tesla Model X's layout look a bit dated. Does money buy happiness? Perhaps in this case. The cost? It's all yours for $125,950.

9. Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon: $121,100

If you're looking for something that's not only ridiculously fast but can also fit the entire family with room to spare, the glorious Mercedes-AMG E 63 Wagon is it. Clearly it's not your ordinary station wagon, but rather the result of pure sports car development shoved into a family-friendly body style that can be used for more than just special occasions.

This beast from Germany packs a twin-turbo 4.0 litrer V8 with a total of 603 hp and 627 lb-ft. All of that power is directed to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission. It even has a special drift mode and a 0-60 mph time of 3.4 seconds.

One of its very few downsides is that availability is quite limited. It's not one of the most expensive Mercedes but it's far from cheap, as the car costs $121,100 before options.

10. Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe: $118,000

Power and style mean everything, hence the AMG GLE 63 S Coupe, a $118,000 luxury crossover with sleeker styling compared to its more traditional SUV counterpart. With a 603-hp variant of the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine used across various AMG models, it’s no slouch. It boasts a confirmed 0-60 mph time of 3.4 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 11.9 seconds, and a top speed of 174 mph

Unlike the larger GLS-Class, the GLE only has two rows of seating in its luxurious interior, where you’ll find the latest AMG Performance steering wheel and a host of other performance accouterments.

But it's also proof that one does not need a million-dollar Mercedes to have a good time. The folks at Stuttgart are aware of this. Plus, the car's body has a sexier look that just screams style everywhere it goes.

What Is The Most Expensive Mercedes In The World?

The Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe was auctioned privately by Mercedes for the equivalent of $142,917,750 in late 2022, making it the most expensive car ever and the most expensive Mercedes ever sold.
