This best-selling prestige car takes a bold approach into the next year, borrowing from the world of more affordable machines.
Mercedes has rebooted its best selling car for 2023, adopting a bold strategy for the new Mercedes-Benz GLC.
Luxury cars traditionally offer a broad range of models, engines and options for picky customers to choose from.
But the new Mercedes goes against the tide.

The high-riding cousin to the Mercedes-Benz C-Class shapes up as an attractive-looking machine that comes with a lot of equipment for a punchy price.
Previously available with a choice of five engines in a range spanning from $75,100 to $175,800 plus on-road costs, the new GLC will launch with a single specification priced from $104,900 plus on-road costs.

Arriving in June in all-wheel-drive GLC 300 trim, the new car costs about $18,000 more than its predecessor.
But Benz says the difference is narrowed by a raft of standard equipment that used to come at additional cost, including a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, 20-inch alloys, an AMG body kit and metallic paint.
It has a significantly improved cabin that includes a portrait-style touchscreen similar to what you find in the flagship S-Class limousine.

The new machine only has one optional extra – a $6900 Plus Package delivering a high-end Burmester stereo, augmented reality sat nav, addition driving assistance features and better headlights.
The new car is longer than the outgoing model, with a more spacious cabin and significantly larger boot.

Its 2.0-litre turbo engine employs mild hybrid tech to use 7.7L/100km of petrol to produce 190kW and 400Nm, enough to reach 100km/h in 6.2 seconds.
A nine-speed automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels.
Mercedes says the more expensive, better-specified model reflects the preferences of customers requesting fully-loaded cars rather than stripped-back models.

The new model will be joined by additional variants in the future, including a successor to the fire-breathing GLC 63 high-performance model.
But don’t expect the new car to deliver V8 power, as Mercedes is reducing the number of models with thirsty engines as part of a green push.
