2022 Maserati Grecale: what is it?
Expected to share a platform with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the Maserati Grecale is a brand new midsize SUV which will rival cars like the Porsche Macan, Audi Q5 and BMW X3.
Even though it’s an entirely new car YesAuto’s spy shots reveal it will have similar styling to the Levante, which sits above the Grecale in Maserati’s SUV roster. It has the same raked rear window and quad tailpipes at the back, as well as what looks like Maserati’s vented wings.
2022 Maserati Grecale: what is it powered by?
The Grecale will likely be offered in petrol, hybrid and fully-electric flavours. The range-topper will be powered by the same 3.0-litre V6 engine found in the Maserati MC20, but it will be down-tuned from the 622bhp used for the supercar.
There’s no official word on the range and performance of the electric powertrain, but it’s thought Maserati’s upcoming EVs will support 300kW charging.
An entry level model could use the same 2.0-litre petrol engine currently found in the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, and Maserati may well transplant the 325bhp 2.0-litre mild hybrid engine used in the Ghibli.
2022 Maserati Grecale: when will it be on sale?
At the moment a full debt for the Maserati Grecale is expected at the end of 2021, which means customer deliveries aren’t likely until spring 2022 at the earliest.
2022 Maserati Grecale: how much will it cost?
Maserati is yet to reveal any pricing details, but an educated guess would say prices will start around £47,000, which is on par with the Porsche Macan and a good £10,000 less than the price of a Levante.
Prices could be as high as £70,000 for the range-topping and most powerful model.
