Tata Motors have revealed the sales figures for March 2023, and the Indian car manufacturer has retailed 44,047 units of its car last month. Out of this, 6,509 units were electric vehicles.
In comparison, Tata Motors sold just 42,466 units of its cars in March 2022, resulting in a YoY growth of approximately 4 per cent. Moreover, we expect these figures to improve in the coming months as well.
That being said, Tata Motors’ current product portfolio consists of Tata Tiago hatchback, Tigor sedan, Punch SUV, Altroz premium hatchback, Nexon SUV, Harrier SUV, and Safari SUV. On top of that, the product portfolio also consists of EVs such as Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and Nexon EV.
Tata Motors has also updated all its current models to comply with the latest RDE and BS6 emission norms. On top of that, the company is also planning to launch the facelifted version of Harrier and Nexon SUVs in India.
It is also worth mentioning that Hyundai Motor India managed to stay ahead of Tata Motors by managing to retail 50,600 units of its cars in March 2023. Furthermore, Mahindra is also very close to Tata Motors after it managed to retail 35,876 units of its cars.
As such, Tata Motors will be looking forward to increasing its sales in the coming months to overtake Hyundai for the second spot. Also, introducing a few special edition variants of its popular models could help the Indian carmaker further improve its sales figures.
Thoughts About Tata Motors Sales Figures
Though Tata Motors have improved its sales figures, the Indian car manufacturer fell a few thousand units short of taking the second spot from Hyundai. Furthermore, Mahindra is also closing in very fast with a YoY sales increase of more than 31 per cent.
That being said, the lack of a C-Segment SUV in Tata Motors’ product portfolio is affecting the overall sales performance and such a product will help Tata Motors compete very closely with Hyundai in India.
