Indian automaker Tata Motors has opened its first registered vehicle scrappage facility in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The brand is referring to the Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) as Re.Wi.Re, that is, Recycle with Respect. Notably, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, inaugurated the carmaker’s first vehicle scrappage facility.
Tata’s vehicle scrappage facility has an annual capacity of 15,000 vehicles, including passenger and commercial vehicles. Moreover, it claims to follow environmentally-friendly methods to dismantle end-of-life vehicles. Ganganagar Vaahan Udyog Pvt. Ltd., a partner of Tata Motors, has developed this facility and will operate it to scrap vehicles irrespective of brand.
A statement released by Tata Motors stated that this facility has been digitised for hassle-free and paperless operations. Additionally, it has dedicated bays to safely dismantle vehicle components, such as tyres, batteries, fuel, oils, liquids, and gases. As claimed, the vehicles will undergo stringent documentation and dismantling processes, which are curated for passenger and commercial vehicle requirements.
Speaking on the occasion, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, said, “I congratulate Tata Motors for setting up this quality facility that is at par with global standards. We are working towards positioning India as a vehicle scrapping hub for the entire South Asian region and need more such state-of-the-art scrapping and recycling units in India.”
